Jesus recognizes that there is increased power when two people come together in prayer. That is why the Bible records him saying this in Matthew 18:19-20: "Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them."
The prayer of agreement will not work if one agrees and the other hopes. In other words, the two people have to be in perfect agreement with one another on the specific prayer request that they want to put before the Lord.
Jesus clearly states that if two of you agree.
This means that you need someone to be an agreement partner with you. You need someone who knows what is at stake and appreciates what it means to stand firm and not relent. The most ideal situation is for a man and his wife to be in agreement.

Jesus also says that He is there in their midst. If Jesus Himself will actually be in the midst of the husband and wife who are praying in agreement and in unison with one another to God the Father, then this means Jesus is hearing their prayer loud and clear. And if Jesus is hearing their prayer loud and clear, then this couple will have a very good chance on getting their prayer answered by God the Father. Now this is not to say one-on-one, individual prayer to the Lord is not powerful and effective. But there are times when you will want to pull out all of the stops and call on a united force to storm the gates of heaven with you to try and get God to want to answer your prayer in a mighty and powerful way.
Deuteronomy 32:30 “How could one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, and the Lord had surrendered them”?
We may be mighty in prayer alone, but we can be mightier with someone joining us. As Deuteronomy 32:30 connotes, with someone agreeing with another in prayer, they can do ten times as much as each can do individually. A lot of people don’t need to be involved; just a husband and wife will do - just two.
With this kind of power available to a man and his wife, a couple is equipped to face married life and its many curveballs.
Stay blessed.
