I received a call from an old friend of mine who is serving far away. She had some issues and said she couldn't share them with her sisters because they would just roll their eyes and say "Here she comes with her drama again" She said her other friends would say the same thing and that's why she bottled it up for so long.
I had to ask her to pause right there to address the drama issue.
We all have those people who insist on focusing on the negative. The cup is always half empty to them and I know nobody wants to be an emotional wastebasket. On the other hand, many ladies would rather die than share their problems with other women because of the general "Pull her down attitude"
One day I had to honestly ask myself if I was one of either of those people.
"Do I constantly assume others harbor evil motives and blow things out of proportion?"
"Do I always criticize others and magnify their faults?"
"Does magnifying the faults in others make me feel better about my own faults?"
If we are focused on pleasing God we will be honest and sincere about our behavior. We all have a tendency towards drama sometimes.
If someone comes to you with something personal or a way they have stumbled. What is your reaction? Is it just another source of gossip? If you are the person always hit with someone else's drama, pray for them sincerely. I believe many people come into our lives for us to learn not only from them but about ourselves.
Finally, if you are the drama queen, no matter how enslaved to bad behavior you may feel God's word can make a difference in your life. Stop watering the weeds in your life and start watering the flowers.
