Are You Committed in Your Relationship? Take This Test and Find Out

In Christian relationships, commitment is not only an emotional bond but a spiritual promise, rooted in God's love and faithfulness. Relationships often face challenges that test the strength of our commitment, so it’s helpful to pause and reflect on how we prioritize and serve our partners. By doing so, we can align our relationships with Christ-like love and dedication.

Commitment in a relationship is more than just saying “I love you” or “I care for you.” It’s about demonstrating love through consistent actions, open communication, forgiveness, and, above all, prioritizing your partner’s well-being alongside your own. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 reminds us that love is patient, kind, and does not seek its own interests, meaning commitment calls for sacrifice and loyalty.

To understand where you stand in terms of commitment, consider taking a self-reflection test based on 20 thought-provoking questions. The questions cover areas like communication, trust, sacrifice, and loyalty. For example, you might ask yourself, “Do I take responsibility for resolving conflicts?” or “Am I willing to compromise for my partner's happiness?” With each “Yes” answer scoring one point, your total score will help you evaluate your dedication to your relationship.
  • 16–20: This score reflects a deeply committed relationship where you strive to embody God’s love and service.
  • 11–15: You are showing moderate commitment, with room to grow. Reflect on areas for improvement.
  • 6–10: There’s some commitment, but it might be time to evaluate areas where greater dedication is needed.
  • 0–5: This low score indicates a need to seek guidance and prayerfully consider the direction of your relationship.
No matter your score, God offers grace and wisdom to help you grow in love and commitment. Embrace open conversations, prayer, and mutual encouragement with your partner. Commitment is a journey, and as Philippians 1:6 says, “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.” Ask God to strengthen your love and lead you both toward a fulfilling, Christ-centered relationship.
